It is the only sector within that of the Italian building and construction sector, that in these years of crisis has been able to grow on the internal front and is able to look positively to the future. The market quotation of timber construction has gone from 1% in 2009 to 6% in 2014. And foresees to reach 15% in 2015. We are certainly still talking of relatively small numbers and are far from the percentiles found in Northern Europe (30% in Austria and 80% in the Scandinavian countries). But things are changing rapidly even here. “The request of timber homes in Italy has grown a lot, and is also distributed across all the national territory”.
Not only in Trentino Alto Adige and the rest of Northern Italy; but we observe today, interest coming from the country’s centre and southern region and in cities like Rome, Naples, Bari and Catania too. The way people perceive their residential homes is changing and people are more and more looking for good quality, safe and sustainable solutions. “The construction culture and habits need to change now, and go back to the ethics of putting people at the centre and not just profit”.
